Lancaster County Library Association Fall Meeting
Wednesday November 18, 2009
5:30 p.m.

High Library & The Young Center at Elizabethtown College

The High Library will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year with the theme, “Bigger than Books: 20 years of expanding information horizons@ High Library."
This summer we completed a project to literally downsize our reference collection, removing the 8-foot tall shelving and leaving 4-foot shelving that gives more expansive views across the area, plus opening up new study space.

The Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies “embraces a threefold mission of teaching, research and public interpretation of the Anabaptist and Pietist heritage* and its contemporary expressions.” The facility itself, which is separate from the library, includes space for exhibits, study and research, as well as a model Meetinghouse.
[*Anabaptist descendents include Mennonites, Amish, Hutterites, and related churches. Pietism gave rise to the Church of the Brethren, as well as the renewed Moravian Church, the Amana Society, the Ephrata Cloister, the Brethren in Christ, and other small religious bodies.]

Directions and Parking. Given the time of day there shouldn’t be a problem with parking. You can park anywhere that is not marked handicapped (unless you have the requisite plates or permits) or “30-minutes only.”
To park near High Library, enter campus from College Ave onto Alpha Drive.
From the Library it’s about a 10-minute walk to the Young Center, so driving vs. walking will depend upon individual inclinations (and possibly the weather!).
